Abortion: What is the Real Issue?

The group of people who thought up the plan for “convincing” our world of abortion’s necessity were very smart.  I say this because they made abortion NOT the main issue.  Rather than focusing on abortion’s morality, or right & wrong-ness of it, they turned the focus to something else.  The “freedom of choice”.  These people knew that we American’s love the right to give people the right to choose whatever they want to do.  This was sneaky, and very purposeful.

It’s purposeful because it takes morality out of the picture when it comes to abortion.  This is how the thinking now goes in so many of our minds: “I may think abortion is wrong, but I will never tell someone that they don’t have a right to choose that option.” What is so sneaky about this way of thinking is that someone can disagree with abortion 100% and still push people toward choosing it.  Somehow we do not see that a vote for “choice” is really a vote to keep abortion legal!

We need to wake up and see that the main issue in abortion is not “choice”, it’s morality.  The question is not “Do you have the right to have an abortion?” The question is “Is it right to have an abortion?” That answer is always, no.

Abortion is Racism

Did you know that for every two African American women that get pregnant one will choose to abort?

Did you know that a Black baby is 5 times more likely to be killed in the womb than a White baby?

Therefore, the most dangerous place for an African American to be is not homeless on the streets, or in prison, or  in the  night clubs.  You know where it is?

No Mr. President

Here are John Piper’s words to President Obama regarding his comment on the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade:

It’s a magnificent thing: The only newly-originating life in the universe that comes in the image of God is Man. The only newly-originating life in the universe that lasts forever is Man. This is an awesome thing. And, as everyone knows, that reverence is not shared by our new President, over whom we have rejoiced. He is trapped and blind in a culture of deceit. On the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, he released this statement, “We are reminded that this decision not only protects women’s health and reproductive freedom, but stands for a broader principle: that government should not intrude on our most private family matters.” To which I say:

No, Mr. President, you are not protecting women; you are authorizing the destruction of 500,000 little women every year.

No, Mr. President, you are not protecting reproductive freedom; you are authorizing the destruction of freedom for one million little human beings every year.

No, Mr. President, killing our children is killing our children no matter how many times you call it a private family matter. You may say it is a private family matter over and over and over, and still they are dead. And we killed them. And you, would have it remain legal.

Mr. President, some of us wept for joy at your inauguration. And we pledge that we will pray for you. We have hope in our sovereign God.

I Hate Abortion

This quote was on the Desiring God blog the other week, and it’s impact on me is still very fresh.

On January 12, 2009 Samantha Heiges, age 23, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for drowning her newborn in Burnsville, Minnesota. If she had arranged for a doctor to kill the child a few weeks earlier she would be a free woman.
